Independence Day Celebrated With Parades, Picnics, Fireworks

The nation celebrates its 235th birthday with more than a few explosions of colorful fireworks and plenty of backyard barbecues.Catasauqua, in Lehigh County, will commemorate Independence Day with a reading of the Declaration of Independence at the George Taylor House at 9:00 a.m.. It will be followed by an honor guard salute at 10:00. Tours of the house, which is located at 35 South Front Street, will be offered until noon
