"The Band Perry" Wins Top New Artist Award at ACMs 2011

Tonight at the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards, "The Band Perry" took home the prize for Top New Artist, category in which they competed against Eric Church, who looked like the strongest alternative.

The award was won by The Band Perry just shortly after they played their hit "If I Die Young", if you haven't listened to it, I have left the video of the song at the bottom of the post.

Who are "The Band Perry"? The band is composed of Kimberly Perry (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano) and her brothers Reid Perry (bass guitar, background vocals) and Neil Perry (mandolin, drums, accordion, background vocals). So, you get the reasoning behind the name?

While accepting their award, Kimberly said:

"We are a family band here in the Band Perry, so first of all, my brothers and I would like to thank our fantastic parents, Marie and Steve Perry. Thank you also to the beautiful fans of country music. Thank you so much for lending us your ears and your hard earned dollars. We are so humbled by this and our songs belong to you."

Congratulations to The Band Perry!
