Smierciak Sarah, a graduate of Northwestern University, was named a Rhodes Scholar, the university announced tomorrow on Sunday. A graduate of Northwestern University and a native of Algonquin been named Rhodes Scholars.
Sarah Smierciak, of Lemont, graduated in June with the great Northwest of history and Middle Eastern language and civilization, according to Pat Vaughan Tremmel, associate director of media relations at Northwestern University. He also studied Arabic at Cairo University and the University of Damascus.
Alexis Brown, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is one of English at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The native Algonquin called the scholarship so he can finish his master’s degree in language and English literature.
class = “body.text”>Smierciak currently lives in Cairo and the development of programs for orphans and street children in a special school recognized by the United Nations, Tremmel said.
Smierciak has published articles on social justice and his own photographs and is a professor in Egyptian art the Field Museum, Tremmel said. It is also a triathlete.
