David Nelson Scores TD, Gives Kelsi Reich Ball Despite Cowboys Rout [VIDEO]

It was only a three-yard touchdown, but Buffalo Bills wide receiver David Nelson kept his promise to his longtime girlfriend Kelsi Reich, a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, during the second quarter of Sunday’s Bills-Cowboys game.

After scoring, Nelson ran down the length of the field at Cowboys Stadium, found Reich, hugged her and finally handed the ball to her, putting an end to the surprise celebration Nelson had been promising before the game.

“She works for the Dallas Cowboys and roots for the Dallas Cowboys, but I know she’ll have some inside joy if I do well,” said Nelson before Sunday, according to the Bills’ official website. “So it’s going to be a fun experience and I’m going to definitely be looking and record the TV copy and see if they show her a couple of times to see her reaction. It’s going to be fun. It’s something we’ve been looking forward to for some time and we’ve already been trash talking back and forth a little bit.”

For a celebration such as the one that occurred, trash-talking may not have even been warranted. For one, the Bills were trailing 21-0 before Nelson even caught the touchdown. And, even though Nelson said his celebration wouldn’t be over the top, his particular celebration wasn’t one of the rub-it-in-your-face kinds. It seemed more like a heartfelt attempt by Nelson to make a loving gesture to a longtime lover in the right place at the right time. After all, both are Texas natives, and Sunday was Nelson’s first time playing the Dallas Cowboys.

If there was any hint of gloating on Nelson’s part, it was the fact that Nelson probably proved Reich wrong by actually scoring a touchdown, and handing the same ball with which he scored the touchdown was the most tangible sign that he had won the bet. And maybe that’s why Reich had a smile-the “he-actually-did-it” kind of smile-when she received the ball.

With Nelson having bought 80 tickets for a select group of fans for the game, you would think a proposal would have been grander, correct? Well, Nelson did state that he wouldn’t even go that far to pull the same thing Boise State running back Ian Johnson did. Guess we will have to wait for the big question to take place the next time Buffalo and Dallas get together, which will probably be more than enough time for the two to make up their minds about marriage.

As for now, Reich can be satisfied without a ring. The fact that Buffalo got trounced 44-7, effectively making her boyfriend’s touchdown totally irrelevant, is probably sweeter. Plus, he doesn’t get any more fantasy points for being the good guy.

Therefore, I’d say Reich still won this battle, pom-poms down.
