San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore is battling an ankle injury but it is not a concern for fantasy football owners who are still deciding whether or not to start Gore against the New York Giants in Week 10.

Gore said the following via the Mercury News this week:

“I’ll be all right,” said Gore, who rushed for 107 yards and is third in the league at 782. “I’m cool. Just checking up some things on my body. Yeah, I’ll be all right.”

Gore has rushed for 100-plus yards in five consecutive games, and is making a strong case to be the NFL’s most valuable player.

Gore also has four touchdowns in the last five games, and is a smart start this week against the Giants. New York allows 127.1 rushing yards per game, and when Gore gets into the second level of their defense he will be able to power through their safeties and cornerbacks.

If you don’t have Gore on your fantasy team, starting his backup Kendall Hunter is a good idea too. Hunter has received at least eight carries in four of the last five games, and averages 4.5 yards per carry.

The strength of the 49ers offense is their running game, and with Gore’s ankle not an issue he will beheavilyinvolved in the game plan against the Giants.

The Giants are playing in their fifth road game of the season on Sunday, and have traveled across the country to play a great 49ers team.

San Francisco will try to tire the Giants with a heavy dose of Frank Gore this week.
