Rachel Lee, the alleged second-in-command of the burglary cohort known as “The Bling Ring”, struck a deal with prosecutors Friday and is expected to be sentenced to four years in prison, according to reports.
But a little free publicity can never hurt Lee’s court appearance coincides nicely with a Lifetime movie about the gang. The Bling Ring which stars rumored Vanessa Hudgens beau Austin Butler as one of the teens, and Jennifer Grey as mother of one of the criminals, premiered Monday night. None of the real-life burglars, who stole millions of dollars’ worth of goods in 2008 and 2009 from the homes of several celebrities, including Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, are cooperating with the production.
Lee, 21, pleaded no contest to a single burglary charge related to a break-in at the home of Audrina Patridge in February 2009. Other charges against her will be dropped in exchange for the plea.
Other members of the “Ring” Nicholas Prugo, Courtney Leigh Ames, Diana Tamayo and Roy Lopez, Jr. will go to trial in early 2012.
A sixth member, Alexis Neiers of the E! reality show Pretty Wild, served 30 days of a 180-day sentence for breaking into Bloom’s house and was released in July 2010. She was arrested again last December for possession of black-tar heroin.
